A Celebration of Pride

Originally, kematas gave birth naturally like all creatures with a male and female father, but as time went on same-sex kems found ways to create off springs. The unconventional method was that a couple would piece together parts of their etherite crystals and funnel large amounts of mana into the newly formed crystal until it grew large and vibrant. This crystal egg would then fracture and form into kits in a brilliant light. This birth process was equally safe for the kits with the exact same results, but kems who practiced the traditional method heavily frowned upon this and shunned those who practiced this new method. Almost centuries of hate against same-sex couples painted history in a bad light that it became a stigma. Same-sex couples kept their private lives a secret and even kems who were born under same-sex practices were criticized and attacked just for living. It wasn’t until years after when pioneers and pacesetters of val-shenn sacrificed their careers and even lives for the sake of same-sex couples and their offspring were seen as heroes and icons for justice. Movements in their names shifted the mindset on val-shenn to the more progressive world you see today.
